Chapter 11: The Truth About Noah

The sentence followed Daniel like a shadow.

Why Noah was never supposed to exist.

The greenhouse became silent after Alexander disappeared.

Security searched the area, but he was gone.

Again.

Like he had planned every step.

Daniel turned toward Lily.

She looked devastated.

“No.””

Daniel’s voice was quiet.

“Tell me.””

Lily shook her head.

“Not here.””

“Why?””

“Because you deserve the truth somewhere safe.””

Daniel looked at Noah.

“He deserves the truth too.””

Noah looked down.

He had heard enough secrets.

Enough whispers.

Enough adults deciding things about his life without him.

“I’m tired of people talking like I’m not here.””

Daniel immediately softened.

Noah continued.

“My whole life, everyone told me things were complicated.””

His eyes filled.

“But nobody ever explained anything.””

Lily walked toward him.

“You’re right.””

She touched his shoulder.

“I’m sorry.””

Noah looked at her.

“Why did you hide me?””

Lily closed her eyes.

“Because I was scared.””

“Of Grandpa?””

She looked at Daniel.

“No.””

A pause.

“Of losing you.””

Noah didn’t answer.

Lily took a breath.

“When I found out I was pregnant, Alexander told me your grandfather wanted control over your future.””

Daniel looked angry.

“He would never—”

Lily interrupted gently.

“Dad.””

The word stopped him.

“You don’t know everything about him.””

Daniel went quiet.

Because she was right.

He had spent years worshiping the memory of a father who may have been very different from the man he remembered.

Lily continued.

“Your grandfather created the Cross Legacy Initiative because he believed the family name had to survive at any cost.””

She looked at Noah.

“He wanted my child raised by people who would shape him.””

Daniel looked at the documents.

“Not loved.””

Lily nodded.

“Controlled.””

Noah looked confused.

“But why me?””

Nobody answered immediately.

Finally, Daniel spoke.

“Because you’re my grandson.””

Lily looked at him.

“There’s more.””

Daniel frowned.

“What?””

She took out another document.

One she had hidden inside her coat.

“I found this years ago.””

Daniel read the first page.

Then his expression changed.

“What is this?””

“A prediction.””

Noah frowned.

“A prediction?””

Lily nodded.

“Your grandfather believed our family would produce someone who could change the company forever.””

Daniel looked uncomfortable.

“You’re talking about business.””

“No.””

Lily shook her head.

“He believed it was bigger than that.””

She pointed at the document.

“Look.””

Daniel read.

The words were old.

Almost obsessive.

*The final heir will unite what was broken.*

Daniel looked up.

“This is insane.””

“I know.””

“Then why believe it?””

“Because Alexander did.””

Daniel froze.

Lily continued.

“He wasn’t interested in Noah because of money.””

She looked at the greenhouse.

“He believed Noah was the person his father was waiting for.””

Noah stepped back.

“I don’t want to be some project.””

Daniel immediately turned.

“You’re not.””

Noah looked at him.

“You promise?””

Daniel knelt.

A billionaire chairman.

A man who commanded boardrooms.

Now kneeling in front of a twelve-year-old boy.

“I promise.””

Noah looked away.

“My mom said promises are easy.””

Daniel nodded.

“She was right.””

A pause.

“But I’m going to spend the rest of my life proving mine.””

For the first time, Noah looked like he wanted to believe him.

Then Daniel’s phone rang.

A message.

From an unknown number.

He opened it.

One photo.

Alexander standing outside a hospital.

Daniel’s face changed.

Lily saw it.

“What?””

Daniel turned the phone.

The caption beneath the photo said:

*You’re looking for the wrong enemy.*

Then another message appeared.

*Your daughter wasn’t the victim. She was the reason everything started.*

Daniel stared.

“No.””

Lily’s face went pale.

Because she knew something Daniel didn’t.

Something she had hidden.

“What is it?””

She didn’t answer.

Daniel stepped closer.

“Lily.””

Her voice trembled.

“Dad…”

May you like

A tear fell.

“There’s something I never told you.””
