Chapter 11: The Hidden Heir
The company servers went offline within minutes.
Every screen in the mansion showed the same message.
*ACCESS GRANTED.*
Marcus stared at the monitor.
“That’s impossible.””
I looked at him.
“You said nobody could access this system.””
“Not without the original ownership code.””
My father went pale.
I turned toward him.
“You know who has it.””
He didn’t respond.
“Dad.””
The word felt strange after ten years.
He looked at me.
“There was another person.””
My heart sank.
“Another person?””
“Yes.””
“Who?””
His silence lasted too long.
Then he whispered:
“Your sister.””
The room went quiet.
I stared at him.
“My sister died.””
My father closed his eyes.
“That’s what everyone was told.””
I stepped back.
Another secret.
Another lie.
My entire life felt like a house built on false walls.
Lily looked frightened.
“Dad, what’s happening?””
I immediately knelt beside her.
“Nothing will happen to you.””
But I wasn’t sure anymore.
My father approached slowly.
“There is something you need to understand.””
I stood.
“No more secrets.””
He nodded.
“Your sister, Clara, was the original heir.””
I frowned.
“That makes no sense.””
“Your grandfather created a private trust.””
My father continued.
“One that could only be controlled by a blood relative who carried the original family code.””
I looked at the computer screen.
“And Clara has it?””
“Yes.””
“But she’s dead.””
My father looked away.
“She disappeared.””
The words hit harder.
“Disappeared?””
He nodded.
“After she discovered Victor’s crimes.””
I looked toward Vanessa.
“And you knew?””
Vanessa didn’t answer.
That was enough.
“You all knew.””
She finally spoke.
“I knew she was alive.””
My hands tightened.
“You knew my sister was alive and said nothing?””
“You wouldn’t have believed me.””
“Try me.””
Vanessa looked at Lily.
“I was trying to protect you.””
I almost laughed.
“Everyone says that.””
A loud crash interrupted us.
The mansion security cameras suddenly activated.
A woman appeared on the screen.
My breath stopped.
Clara.
Older.
Different.
But unmistakably my sister.
She looked directly into the camera.
Then spoke.
“Hello, brother.””
Nobody moved.
Her voice filled the room.
“I know you’re confused.””
I stepped closer to the screen.
“Clara…”
She continued.
“I know everyone has told you different versions of the truth.””
Her eyes became cold.
“But they all left out one thing.””
The screen changed.
Documents appeared.
Old company records.
My father’s signature.
Victor’s signature.
And mine.
My face went pale.
Because there was one document I had never seen.
A transfer agreement.
Dated ten years ago.
The day before my father’s supposed death.
Clara continued.
“You built an empire using something that belonged to me.””
My heart dropped.
“No.””
She looked at the camera.
“You were never the true owner.””
My father stepped forward.
“Clara, stop.””
She ignored him.
“The company was supposed to come to me.””
I stared at the documents.
“What are you doing?””
Her expression changed.
“I’m taking back what was stolen.””
The screen went black.
Then my phone buzzed.
A message from Clara.
*Meet me alone.*
Below it was another message.
A photo.
Lily.
Sleeping.
My blood froze.
May you like
She had taken her.
Again.
