Chapter 14: The Choice Between Two Worlds

The moment Luciano said Marco’s name, everyone moved.

Dante immediately tightened his grip on Leo.

“What did Marco do?””

Luciano looked amused.

“Still thinking like a protector.””

Dante stepped closer.

“I asked you a question.””

Luciano smiled.

“He found the one thing you were all trying to hide.””

I felt a cold sensation.

“What?””

Luciano looked at me.

“The original family records.””

Rafael’s expression changed.

“No.””

Luciano nodded.

“Yes.””

Dante looked furious.

“Where?””

Luciano didn’t answer.

That was his game.

Information was power.

And everyone in that room knew it.

I stepped forward.

“Stop.””

Everyone looked at me.

“I’m tired of this.””

My voice shook.

“But I’m not afraid anymore.””

Luciano studied me.

Interesting.

That was the word in his eyes.

“You really are Maria’s daughter.””

I ignored him.

“Everyone keeps saying they’re protecting me.””

I looked at Dante.

“You hid my family.””

I looked at Rafael.

“You disappeared.””

Then Luciano.

“And you waited twenty-seven years before telling me you’re my father.””

Nobody spoke.

“Maybe all of you had reasons.””

I swallowed.

“But I’m the one who had to live with the consequences.””

Dante lowered his eyes.

Because he knew I was right.

Then the security alarm sounded.

Again.

But this time, something was different.

The guards weren’t moving toward the outside.

They were looking around.

“Boss!””

A guard rushed in.

“The lower entrance has been opened.””

Dante’s expression changed.

“By who?””

The guard hesitated.

“We don’t know.””

Then another voice came through the radio.

A woman’s voice.

“Dante.””

Everyone froze.

Sofia.

Alive.

The guard looked confused.

“She’s at the front gate.””

Dante immediately looked toward the exit.

“No.””

I stared.

“You think it’s a trap?””

“Yes.””

But Rafael shook his head.

“No.””

Everyone looked at him.

“She came back because she knows something.””

Dante didn’t like that answer.

But he knew Rafael was right.

Minutes later, Sofia entered.

She looked exhausted.

Terrified.

But alive.

The second she saw me, tears filled her eyes.

“Alina.””

I didn’t move.

“You lied to me.””

Her face broke.

“I know.””

“You let me believe you betrayed me.””

“I was trying to keep you alive.””

I laughed bitterly.

“Everyone says that.””

Sofia stepped closer.

“Because it’s true.””

She looked at Dante.

“Marco has someone else.””

Dante’s eyes narrowed.

“Who?””

Sofia hesitated.

Then looked at Luciano.

Everyone became still.

“What?””

Sofia’s voice shook.

“The person controlling Marco…”

She swallowed.

“Is someone even he fears.””

Luciano’s expression changed.

For the first time.

Fear.

“Who?””

Sofia looked at me.

“It’s your grandmother’s lawyer.””

I frowned.

“My grandmother’s lawyer?””

Sofia nodded.

“He kept the original inheritance documents hidden for decades.””

Dante stepped forward.

“Why?””

“Because the documents prove something.””

“What?””

Sofia looked at Leo.

Then me.

“The Rosselli bloodline was never meant to be inherited by one person.””

Silence.

“It was meant to be protected by two.””

I looked at Dante.

“What two?””

Sofia whispered:

“Dante and Alina.””

The room froze.

Luciano stared at me.

Then laughed quietly.

“So that’s what your mother was trying to do.””

I looked at him.

“What?””

“She wasn’t running away.””

His expression darkened.

“She was creating a future where you and Dante would stand together.””

I felt overwhelmed.

My entire life.

Every secret.

Every loss.

Everything led here.

Then Dante’s phone rang.

He answered.

A few seconds later, his face changed.

“What happened?””

The person on the other end spoke.

Dante looked at me.

Then Leo.

Then the room.

Finally, he said:

“Marco has the original documents.””

May you like

A pause.

“And he’s coming here.””
