Chapter 1

I left my sick mother in my wife’s care.
When I came home, the housekeeper was screaming and orange juice was all over the floor.
My wife shouted first.
“She attacked me!”
Then I saw Mom trembling in bed.
Maria stood between her and my wife.
“She was trying to make your mother drink this.”
I looked at the shattered glass.
My wife laughed nervously.
“It was orange juice.”
So I did the one thing she never expected.
I opened the hidden security footage.
For weeks, the camera had recorded everything.
My wife insulting Mom.
Taking away her phone.
Ignoring her medication schedule.
Threatening to put her in a nursing home if she complained to me.
Then the final recording began.
My wife entered the kitchen alone.
She prepared the juice.
Reached into her pocket.
And emptied something into the glass.
The room went silent.
Mom began crying.
But the footage didn’t end there.
Minutes earlier, my wife had received a message.
“Once she’s gone, the house transfers to you.”
There was just one problem.
The sender had misunderstood my mother’s estate plan.
The house wasn’t going to my wife.

In fact, my wife’s name appeared nowhere in the new documents.
So whose name was there instead?
